Karen Denise McClain

Karen Denise McClain was born on May 31, 1960, in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania, to Richard W. Randall and the late Ruth J. Randall. She was nurtured in a devout Christian household, alongside her brother, the late Keith R. Randall. From her earliest years, Karen exemplified the principles of faith, discipline, integrity, and compassion—virtues instilled in her by her family and strengthened by her spiritual upbringing.

Karen received her foundational education within the Pittsburgh Public School System, attending Lincoln Elementary School, Arsenal Middle School, and Peabody High School, from which she graduated in 1978. Demonstrating notable academic promise and determination, she began her higher education at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and later transferred to the esteemed Tuskegee Institute (now Tuskegee University). In 1983, she earned her Bachelor of Business Administration, an accomplishment she treasured throughout her life.

On August 21, 1982, Karen entered into holy matrimony with her devoted husband, Richard Ernest McClain. Their union was blessed with three children: Ke’yona Tiera, Richard II, and Raymar. As a wife and mother, Karen embodied grace, steadfast commitment, and unconditional love. Her family remained the central focus of her life, and she fulfilled her responsibilities with profound devotion and an unwavering sense of purpose…

Karen devoted more than three decades of distinguished service to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania within the Auditor General’s Department, where she served as an Auditor. Her career was characterized by exceptional diligence, unimpeachable integrity, and an enduring commitment to professional excellence. Colleagues and peers deeply respected her for her reliability, meticulous attention to detail, and steadfast work ethic.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Karen actively contributed to organizations that reflected her values and interests. She was a proud member of the Greater Pittsburgh–Tuskegee Alumni Club, Pittsburgh Chapter, and served faithfully as Treasurer of the Ladies Only Social Club. Her involvement demonstrated her dedication to fellowship, community, and the strengthening of bonds among those she cherished.

Karen found joy in music, particularly the soulful harmonies of The Whispers, whose artistry brought warmth and delight to her life. She was also an avid sports enthusiast with an abiding appreciation for athletic competition. Her loyalty to the Pittsburgh Steelers was resolute, and she followed their pursuits with consistent enthusiasm and pride.

On October 31, 2023, Karen departed this life unexpectedly due to an undetected ruptured brain aneurysm. Her passing was a profound loss to her family, friends, and all who were privileged to know her. Though her time on earth concluded suddenly, the depth of her influence and the strength of her legacy endure.

Throughout her life, Karen carried herself with quiet strength, moral clarity, and an abiding faith that illuminated her path. She leaves behind an enduring testament to love, integrity, and the beauty of a life lived with purpose and grace. Her memory will remain a source of comfort, inspiration, and lasting honor.
